INTERLUDE

OK this Interlude is focused on Safaree's feelings and what he did after Lauren broke the news to him. Enjoy :)




Safaree arrived at his mother's house after three hours of non-stop riding to nowhere. He had to calm down and driving seemed to do the trick. He parked his car and sat in the driveway thinking about the whole situation and evaluating things in his life. It was 2am and he knew that his mother was probably sleeping so he quietly went into the house and made his way to his bedroom. He threw his keys on the dresser and sat at the edge of the bed with his face in his hands. He was distraught. He still couldn't wrap his head around why it took Lauren so long to tell him something like that then he thought about the conversation that they had the morning of their sexual encounter.

Safaree and Lauren woke up next to each other and gasped. Lauren grabbed a hold on the bed sheets to cover herself. Safaree covered himself with one of the pillows and sat at the edge of the bed putting on his boxers while Lauren stared at his back. No one had said a word for 10 minutes. Both of them didn't know what to say at all. They were to shocked too. After awhile Safaree spoke up.

"How did this happen?" he asked not looking back at Lauren. She just shook her head and a single tear fell from her eyes. She knew that they had made a mistake but she couldn't help but think how her feelings towards him would be received especially after they just had sex after a night of drinking.

"I don't know" she said shaking her head. There was a long silence. Safaree got up and started dressing himself. Lauren couldn't look at his facial expression. He got all his things together but couldn't find his keys. He searched his pants pocket and found them.

"Where are you going?" Lauren asked sitting up.

"Home. Where do you think where am I going? he retorted.

"Safaree you can leave, we have to talk about this"

"Lauren we had sex in Rex's guest room and it was a mistake! What else is there to talk about?"

"A mistake?"

"Yeah, a mistake!"

"What about all the sweet things you were telling me last night?"

"What sweet things? I probably was drunk anyways so it doesn't even matter."

"I can't believe your saying this right now" she said shaking her head letting tears fall uncontrollably.

"Why are you crying over a one night stand?

"I'm crying because I love you alright!"

"Lauren we had sex once and now you're saying you love me, please?"

"I always loved you Safaree, I just couldn't find the right way to tell you"

"So you wait until after we get drunk and have sex to tell me! Just great!"

"Please stop being negative about this. You're hurting my feelings" Safaree took a deep breath and walked to her side of the bed and sat down.

"Lauren I don't feel the same; I'm sorry. We were clearly wrong for sleeping with each other after we got drunk. Let's just pretend this didn't happen OK?"he said looking into her eyes. Lauren felt embarrassed and rejected so she just nodded. "OK?" he asked again.

"OK" she replied lowly. Safaree kissed her forehead and left out the door.

Safaree shook his head remembering their conversation. He now understood part of the reason why she didn't tell him right away but he was still upset that she waited so long to tell him. He sunk into his bed and drowned in his thoughts the rest of the night.

*A Week Later*

Safaree was still at his mother's house. He didn't feel like going back to Nicki's because he didn't want to run into Lauren. Everyday he thought about what she said to him and he couldn't get over it. His mother didn't ask why he was back home but he did get the nerve to tell her about what happen between him and Lauren. She didn't give him no other advice except to talk it over with Lauren so they could move past it and heal together. He didn't bother getting out the house either. Instead he locked himself up in his room and blamed the whole thing on himself. He couldn't look in the mirror because he was disgusted of himself. How could he treat Lauren the way he did when he loved her too but just was too wrapped up in other things to even care? Nicki called to check up on him but he just ignored all her calls. He knew Lauren had told her and was mad that she didn't tell him either as a best friend should. She even came by his mom's house but he still refused to see her.

He finally got the courage to confront the issue since it wasn't getting any better by being cooped up in the house all day . He would go to Lauren's and talk; that's if she would talk to him. He had to try to at least become friends with her again. After that he would have a talk with Nicki. He showered, got dressed and headed out the door.
