INTERLUDE

I know you guys don't give a shit about Erica but this interlude focuses on Drake and Erica’s relationship and how they got together. Enjoy.

Drake was packing two large suite cases, one for him and one for Scarlett. They were headed back to Toronto to visit his mom. It’s been awhile since they had seen each other and Scarlett missed her Nana so he decided that a two day trip was long overdue. After firing Lisa and the break up with Nicki, he needed to talk to his mom.

He finished packing the suite cases while Scarlett was sitting on his bed playing with her baby doll.

“Daddy that’s mine?” she asked pointing to her pink and black suite case.

“Yes baby, that’s yours”

“We gon’ see Nana, We gon’ see Nana!” she sang while combing her dolls hair. He chuckled. Drake had told her that they were going to see her grandmother and she was excited. He smiled and zipped up the suite cases. He then went into her room, in her closet to get a jacket and her sneakers. Drake walked back into his room and made his way over to her.

“Come on princess, let’s get these on you. We got a plane to catch.” He said putting her sneakers on her feet.

“Nooo…I don’t wanna go on da plane” Scarlett whined.

“You want to see Nana right?” he asked her tying her shoelaces. She shook her head. “Ok then” Scarlett started pouting. Drake sighed. He knew that she was afraid of airplanes because of what his mom told him. It would be his first time flying with her so he knew what to expect. “Baby don’t be sad, Daddy’s gonna be right there ok?” he said rather a statement to calm her down. She shook her head and he put on her jacket. 

Drake went to the other side of the bed where the suite cases were and picked them up. “Baby stay right here, daddy’s gonna put these in the car.”

Scarlet stayed put, still playing with her doll. A few minutes later Drake returned and picked her up from out of the bed and grabbed the purple and yellow backpack that he had packed with snacks, wipes, extra underwear and pull-ups in case of accidents, a blanket and of course her bunny. He was prepared for almost anything. They made their way downstairs to the kitchen where Drake got her princess Sippy cup and filled it with apple juice, then placed it in the side of pocket of her backpack.

“Nicki!” Scarlett yelled. Drake laughed and then his smile faded abruptly. He locked up the house and strapped her into her car seat and shut the door then got in. He pulled out the driveway and they were off.

Thirty minutes later they arrived at the airport. Drake got a trolley and placed Scarlett and the bags into it and made his way to the terminal to check in. After they checked in, it was time to board the plane. They had gotten there just in the nick of time.

Once inside the aircraft, he gave Scarlett some bubblegum so that when they took off her ears wouldn’t be hurting her. Scarlett was sitting by the window and Drake was in the aisle seat. When the plane started revving up and taxing down the runway, Scarlett got scared and started crying.

“Daddy” she cried. Drake couldn’t take her out of the seat due to safety reasons so he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer to him.

“It’s ok baby girl” he said trying to soothe her. “Daddy’s right here” He placed her head in his lap and grabbed her blanket and bunny from out of her backpack.

After awhile, Scarlett seemed to calm down and by the time the plane took off, she was knocked out.

They landed in Toronto two hours later. With Scarlett at his side he went to retrieve their suite cases from baggage claim. He put the backpack on Scarlett’s back and held her hand as he pushed the cart. When they got out of the terminal they saw Sandi waiting for them. Scarlett immediately spotted her grandmother and let go of Drake’s hand to run towards her.

“Nana!” she yelled. Sandi picked her up and gave her a kiss.

“Hi, nana’s baby” Scarlett was smiling wide. Drake caught up to them a few seconds later.

“Hey ma” he said hugging her.

“Hello Aubrey” She said hugging him back. “How was everything?” she said asking about the flight. He chuckled.

“You were right, she was scared” Mama Sandi smiled.

“Come on, let’s go” she said leading them out to the car. When they got there Drake placed the bags into the back and got in and Sandi strapped Scarlett in. A few moments later they drove off having small conversation. Scarlett was in the back chanting “Nana”. Drake and Sandi laughed at her.

They arrived at the house and Drake unloaded the bags from the car while Mama Sandi took Scarlett inside. When he was finished, he settled into the living room and turned on the TV.

"Aubrey, Linda asks about you all the time" she informed. Drake looked over to his mom.

"How is Ms. Williams?" he asked.

"She's doing better. I'm gonna take Scarlett over there in a little bit" she informed. Drake shook his head.

"That's fine. Tell her I said Hi! I'm pretty tired so I'll go catch a nap" he said walking to his room.

"OK, baby" Sandi looked at Scarlett eating her sandwich. "You wanna go see your other grandma?" she asked. Scarlett looked at her.

"Grandma!" she yelled. Sandi chuckled at her grand-daughter and shook her head.

Her and Linda have really became closer since Ashley died. And every time she had Scarlett she would take  her over to see her. This trip was no different. When Scarlett finished eating Sandi grabbed her keys and headed out the door.

A few hours later Drake decided to catch up with some of his friends at a local bar while his mom and Scarlett was still over at Ms. Williams' house. He text his mother that he was catching up with some friends just in case she came back before he did.

While out with some of his friends Drake received a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to find Erica, his ex there.

"Hello Aubrey...or should I say Drake" she smiled. 

"Drake is fine. What are you up too?" he asked.

"Just picking one of my girls up from work. How are you?'

"I'm good"

"I bet! I see you becoming a superstar you don't know nobody anymore"

"I wouldn't say all that but I guess so" he shrugged.

"How long are you in town for?" 

"Just for two days, then I head back to LA" 

"We should catch up before you leave"

"I'll think about it"

"Come on Aubrey. I know you miss me" Drake stayed silent. She laughed. “Call me when you’re ready to stop playing with Barbie dolls” she whispered walking away. Drake gulped. He wiped the side of his mouth and turned back around to the bar.


Drake didn't want to talk to her but they were madly in love at one point and he'd be lying if he said that he didn't care about her. 

The next day Drake left Scarlett with his mom and drove over to Erica’s house. When he got there she already had the door open for him. He walked inside and shut the door.

“It’s nice to see you finally called” she said pouring some grey goose into a glass. “You want some?” she asked.

“Yeah” he said sitting on her couch. She poured him one too and made her way over. She handed him his drink and he took a sip then placed it on the coffee table. Erica sat next to him in only a t-shirt and thongs. 

She took a sip of her drink as well then spoke.

“So how is the US?”

“It's ok. I just miss my hometown” She shook her head in understanding as she sipped some more of her drink.

“How’s your daughter?” she asked sitting her drink next to his on the coffee table.

“She’s doing good. She’s almost three now” he informed.  

"Wow, time really flies"

"Yeah, it does" he said shaking his head in agreement.

"So are you seeing anyone yet?"

"I was at one point. Why?"

"I just miss you Aubrey that's all.

Two days later, the door bell rung Drake got up to answer it while Scarlett was upstairs in her room. He looked out the window to see Erica standing there. Once he left Toronto he and Erica became an item again. He still cared about Nicki but she made it perfectly clear that they would be nothing more than friends so he had moved on. Drake opened the door to let her in.

"Hey baby!" she said smiling. Drake smiled back. She reached out to kiss him.  He let her inside and closed the door.

"Why you didn't call me?" he asked.

"It was just a last minute thing. Besides I miss you. You said I can come by anytime." He chuckled. Scarlett came from downstairs.

"Daddy I hungry" she said making her way over to him. Erica walked over to her.

"This is lil mama?" she asked. Drake shook his head. "Omg, she's so cute" she said pinching her chubby cheeks. "Hi Scarlett!" Scarlett just stared at her and clung to Drake.

"Come on let's get you something to eat" he said taking her hand. They walked over to the kitchen where Drake cut up an apple and gave her some animal crackers. Erica sat at the bar watching. Drake filled her Sippy cup with Juice.

"Nicki!" she yelled. Drake laughed. Erica was confused.

"Why is she saying Nicki?" she asked puzzled.

"Nicki bought her that cup, and every time she see's it she yell her name" he informed.

"Aww that's cute! Nicki is the girl you used to date right?" Drake nodded his head.

"Yeah"

"What happen?"

"Long story" he said handing Scarlett the Sippy cup.

"Well I have nothing but time baby." Drake sighed and began informing her about Nicki.
